- Silverdale - Writing in response to an enquiry from Ottawa in 1906, J.A. Skinner, formerly the postmaster here, declared, 'I selected the name of Silverdale from a list of names of places in England, a small town in Staffordshire.'
- He noted that the name was appropriate for the Fraser Valley settlement since a Silver Creek is there and the settlement lies in a valley.
