Description From Owner:
- North Bend - Originally known as Yankee Flats or Yankee Town. Much of the CPR mainline across British Columbia was built from west to east.
- Having travelled eastward through the Fraser Valley, the line turned at Hope and travelled north through the Fraser Canyon before resuming its eastward route.
- Because of this major deflection, the CPR'S stretch north of Hope was referred to as the railway's 'north bend,' and when Yankee Flats became the divisional point for this part of the line, North Bend became its name.
- With permission from G.P.V and Helen B. Akrigg 1997 British Columbia Place Names. UBC Press.
