- Named after Donald Mann, partner of William Mackenzie in the building of the Canadian Northern Railway.
- A native of Acton, Ontario, Mann was knighted in 1911.
- Port Mann was laid out as the Pacific terminus of the Canadian Northern, which was taken over by the dominion government in 1917 and became part of the CNR system in 1923.
