- Moberly - This is the oldest place of continual white residence along this stretch of the Upper Columbia, a cabin having been built here in 1871 by Walter Moberly, CE (1832-1915).
- Born in Steeple Ashton, Oxfordshire, he worked on surveys in northern Ontario before he came to British Columbia by way of Cape Horn in 1858.
- One of the more important explorers of this province, he ranged far and wide over British Columbia and discovered the Eagle Pass between Shuswap Lake and Revelstoke.
- In 1885 he published The Rocks and Rivers of British Columbia, a little book of reminiscences.
