Semlin - After Charles Augustus Semlin, who arrived in the area in 1864 and soon established himself as a successful rancher.
He entered politics early, becoming a member of the provincial legislature in 1871. He was Premier of British Columbia from 1898 to 1900. He died in 1927, aged ninety-one.
