Description From Owner:
Weedon Creek
- Parsnip River - R.M. Patterson mentions the 'almost tropical growth of the giant cow parsnip from which the river gets its name.'
- He found this plant growing up to seven feet and says that 'the din of the rain on the huge leaves was like the rush of a tremendous wind' (Finlay's River, p. 38).
- The plant is sometimes called Indian Rhubarb since the Indians eat the petioles or leaf stalks.
- Peculiar Lake - What makes this lake peculiar is a very long spit extending down the centre of the lake that almost makes it look like two parallel lakes.
- Weedon Creek - After Flight Lieutenant Weedon of the RCAF, engaged in the PGE'S reconnaissance survey of 1929.
- With permission from G.P.V and Helen B. Akrigg 1997 British Columbia Place Names. UBC Press.
