- After Captain Arthur Brisco, 11th Hussars, one of the heroes of the Charge of the Light Brigade. He was a great friend of John Palliser and joined him during his explorations in 1858-9.
- Mount Ethelbert - Named after the first nun to ascend the upper Columbia River.
- She died aboard Captain Armstrong's riverboat, the Ptarmigan, and was buried as Sister Ethelbert (a surprising name for a nun one wonders if Armstrong got it wrong). In any event Armstrong named the mountain after her.
- Spillimacheen River - From the Okanagan Indian word meaning 'flat area along edge' or 'flat mouth.' (See also Spallumcheen.)
- In 1901 the BC member of the Geographic Board of Canada wrote to Ottawa as follows: 'Spillimachene has been used in the official Reports for some time previously it was Spillemcheen, but the former represents the pronunciation best.
- I would suggest that Spillimacheen be adopted as conforming with terminations of Similkameen, Tulameen, etc.'
- Mount Verendrye - Named by G.M. Dawson after Pierre Gaultier de Varennes, Sieur de la Verendrye (1685-1749),
- the great French-Canadian explorer who sought with his sons to find the Western Sea, though it is doubtful that he ever got farther west than the Black Hills in the Dakotas.
