Description From Owner:

After Tom Cassidy, who arrived here frorn Iowa in 1878 and was soon joined by his wife. A son later took over the farm and worked it until most of the land was needed for the airport.
McKay Peak - After Joseph William McKay (1829-1900), Chief Trader with the VIBC, who played a major part in the company's development of coal deposits.
In 1855 he became one of the six members of the first Legislative Assembly of Vancouver Island. In 1883, having retired earlier from the service of the HBC, he took a post with the federal Indian Department.
