- After Tom Cassidy, who arrived here frorn Iowa in 1878 and was soon joined by his wife. A son later took over the farm and worked it until most of the land was needed for the airport.
- McKay Peak - After Joseph William McKay (1829-1900), Chief Trader with the VIBC, who played a major part in the company's development of coal deposits.
- In 1855 he became one of the six members of the first Legislative Assembly of Vancouver Island. In 1883, having retired earlier from the service of the HBC, he took a post with the federal Indian Department.
