This Dallas is named after neither Dallas, Texas, nor Alexander Grant Dallas, a notable HBC agent and director.
It takes its name, instead, from Dallas Johnston (1887-1964), who farmed six miles east of Kamloops from 1902 until after World War II, when much of his land was purchased for Veterans' Land Act settlement.
The name was chosen in 1955 by the settler veterans at a meeting called to decide upon a name for the community.
