After the Swede (Charles Bonnevier) who was the first homesteader at the eastern end of today's Manning Park.
He did a lot of prospecting and in the early 1940s at the age of eighty was still to be seen with shovel and goldpan, and a pot of mush or mulligan, prospecting in the hills.
