Description From Owner:
- Forster Creek - After Harold E. Forster, alpinist, rancher, mining speculator. Born in Ontario and orphaned at the age of one, he was sent to England and educated at Eton and Cambridge.
- He came to British Columbia in 1890. In 1898 he acquired Firlands Ranch on this creek, where he built a spacious manor house, complete with tennis court and croquet lawn.
- He served a term as MLA for the riding. In 1940, living apart from his wife, with most of the house closed off, he and a friend spent an evening drinking with a young Indian, who shot them and burned down the house in an attempt to conceal his crime.
- With permission from G.P.V and Helen B. Akrigg 1997 British Columbia Place Names. UBC Press.
