British Columbia Tourism Region : Vancouver, Coast, & Mountains
Description From Owner:
- Lake Errock - Originally Squakum Lake, but this inelegant name, for a kind of spring salmon, was changed to Loch Erroch for the post office maintained here from 1892 to 1896.
- (The name was apparently borrowed by A. W. Ross, local rancher and MP, from Loch Ericht in Inverness-shire, Scotland.)
- When the post office was reestablished in 1940, it was as Lake Errock, but Victoria insisted upon calling the lake Squakum Lake for about thirty more years.
- With permission from G.P.V and Helen B. Akrigg 1997 British Columbia Place Names. UBC Press.
