- Hot Springs Cove - The Indian name for these springs was 'Mak-seh-kla-chuck,' meaning 'smoking water.'
- Marktosis - From the Nootka Indian word meaning 'camp on either side of bay.'
- Openit Peninsula - The name of this peninsula, by Hotsprings Cove, comes from the Nootka Indian word meaning 'place of calm waters.'
- Mount Seghers - After Charles John Seghers, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Vancouver Island, with jurisdiction over Alaska.
- He was killed by a demented companion on the banks of the Yukon River in 1886 and interred in St. Andrew's Cathedral, Victoria, in 1888.
