Description From Owner:
- Paul Lake - After the Indian chief Jean Baptiste Lolo, commonly known as 'St. Paul.' The latter name was frequently shortened to Paul. (For details see Lolo, Mount.)
- Pinantan Lake - This name is derived from a Shuswap Indian term for which no meaning is known. (The lake was not named after Antonio Pene.)
- Pinantan Lake was an important root-digging area for the Shuswap people from both the Kamloops and Chase areas. PINCHI LAKE, N. of Stuart L.
- In 1811 Daniel Harmon noted the existence of 'Pinchy.' Father Morice wanted to call this Rey Lake after 'le premier chapelain de Montmartre,' but Victoria stayed with the Carrier Indian name, which means 'lake outlet.'
- With permission from G.P.V and Helen B. Akrigg 1997 British Columbia Place Names. UBC Press.
