Port Douglas - Came into being in 1858 when Governor Douglas ordered work begun on the Harrison-Lillooet route to the Interior.
In December of this year, Douglas was able to report that the townsite, named after him, had been laid out and that seventy lots were occupied. It is now practically deserted.
