- Nowitka Mountain - After the Nowitka, one of the steamers that ran on the upper Columbia in the early days. Owned by the Columbia River Lumber Company, the steamer has been described as 'a makeshift thing.'
- Riondel - After Count Edouard Riondel, president of the French-owned Canadian Metal Company, which in 1905 acquired the famous Bluebell mine and renovated the smelter here.
