Memory Island Park
- Memory Island Park - A memorial to two Victoria men, Allan Mayhew and Kenneth Scharff, who lost their lives in World War II.
- Shawnigan Lake - The name first appears in 1859. Linguists have not been able to identify it with any known BC Indian word indeed, it may not be Indian at all.
- Mrs. Beryl Cryer, who came to the lake in 1892, maintained that it was a hybrid name based on those of two early settlers, Shaw and Finnegan.
- With permission from G.P.V and Helen B. Akrigg 1997 British Columbia Place Names. UBC Press.
