Description From Owner:
- Hahas Lake - From the Kootenay Indian word meaning 'skunk.'
- Ta Ta Creek - Many variants of the tale of Ta Ta Creek are told in East Kootenay, but basically it is as follows.
- A horse thief was being taken to Fort Steele by a posse when he persuaded the constable to let him have a fresh horse.
- A little later, where a stream ran through a heavily wooded steep gully, the thief suddenly put his spurs to his horse and got away.
- Before disappearing into the woods, he turned to his pursuers, lagging on their jaded mounts, and uttered the famous line: 'Ta ta, friends, I've business up the trail.'
