Description From Owner:
Reg Christie Creek
- Mad River - The Reverend George Grant described it in 1872 as 'a violent mountain affluent.'
- Reg Christie Creek - After Harold Reginald Monro Christie, BCLS, killed in action in 1916.
- Vavenby - When a post office was established here in 1910, an early settler, Daubney Pridgeon, suggested that it be named after his birthplace, Navenby in Lincolnshire.
- Unfortunately the postal authorities misread his handwriting, and so it became 'Vavenby.'
- With permission from G.P.V and Helen B. Akrigg 1997 British Columbia Place Names. UBC Press.
