Description From Owner:
- Known originally as Seventh Siding, during the construction of the CPR'S Crowsnest line, 1897-8.
- When the CPR sought to buy land from Fred Little for a townsite here, he stipulated that the new town be named Creston after his hometown in Iowa.
- Erickson - After E.G. Erickson (1857-1927), CPR superintendent at Cranbrook from 1904 to 1908.
- Sirdar - Named after Field Marshal Lord Kitchener (1850-1916), who in 1892 was made sirdar (Commander-in-Chief) of the Egyptian army.
- While sirdar he won the Battle of Omdurman (1898) and established British control over the Sudan as well as over Egypt.
