Description From Owner:
- Greenwood - Writing to the Chief Geographer of Canada in 1905, R.A. Brown reported that Greenwood was named after another mining camp, Greenwood, Colorado.
- This agrees with the account of R.W. Haggen, a local historian and MLA, that Greenwood is one of those places 'named after camps in the American Cordillera.'
- He added: 'Most of the miners and companies which operated in the Boundary [district] were from the USA.' The townsite for Greenwood was laid out in 1895. Greenwood acquired a post office in 1896 and was incorporated as a city in 1897.
- Henderson Creek - After Richard Arthur Henderson, BCLS, killed in action on 11 April 1917.
- With permission from G.P.V and Helen B. Akrigg 1997 British Columbia Place Names. UBC Press.
